Distance Education

Although online learning or distance education is very useful, it is not the one for me. Because it needs students who are independent, time- manager, and responsible person. In addition, I prefer face-to- face education because I believe that the connection between the instructor and the students is better than distance education in a way of building relationship. On the other hand, there are some people also find it better , especially for those who have low self- esteem and shy people. Another thing is that i found it more difficult than traditional one because i think it is hard to expailn some issues that i do not understand through distance. So, i will stay with traditional education

Cognitive Overload

Have you ever sat in a class and been totally overwhelmed by all the new information, technology and esoteric vocabulary? Have you been so frustrated you just wanted to get up and walk out? If so, then you have suffered from cognitive overload. There are , however, some strategies to reduce it. In addition, thank God that now I have the best instructors who know when to stop and when to continue. :) ;)

Meaningful Learning

Unfortunately, students in Saudi Arabia depending on memorization rather than understading the content of their books , regardless the international schools. So, that is why education in K.S.A is poor. Understading and discussing will make the information remain in the long term memory. While memorizing will just remain it in the short- term memory. If you want to test what I said, try to memorize the information for a test, and see if you would remember it after the test. would you be able to remember it after one day pass or not? So, this is a [problem that we have here. To solve it, we have first to make sure that the teachers are well- trained in teaching. So, Meaningful learning (understanding) is better than Rote learning (memorization and remembering). Actually, remembering is the first step in the Meaningful Learning; so it important too. So, I hope for the next years, education in Saudi Arabia will be improved. (I'm just hoping )

My Expectation

MY expectation for this course (use of computer in psychology) is being able to understand and like computers. I want to see that technology is made to make our lives easier and not make it complicated. In addition, I want to know how to work with the basics of computer because it is important to know how to deal with it. If we learn how to use these computers in appropriate way, it will benefit us in a lot of things in the present and future.

My Goals

My name is Ebtisam and I matter about counseling psychology, which is my major. I have lot of things in my mind that I want to do for this field which most of people, especially in the Middle East; don't believe that psychology is a science which helps a lot of them.
In the future, I want to specialize in adolescents' problems(drug abuse) and complete studying until I take the Ph.D. Moreover, I want to have my own show in solving people's issues like Dr. Phil show or broadcasting in the radio like Fraisure (or better). After I finish the four years, I will complete studying abroad and complete what I started. I might start working there and then return home to open my own clinic. I alos want to write a book about psychology and try to change people's concept about psychology because most of them have a wrong view about psychology (like saying that psychologists are crazy). I have a big ambition for my future in this field and I will fulfill it and may God help me(if God wants).
